Bob takes over “Sounds of the 70s” show

Bob is "proud and honoured" to take over “Sounds Of The 70s” from his great friend Johnnie Walker as of 3rd November 2024.

Bob began at BBC Radio 1 in 1970 where he hosted the original incarnation of “Sounds Of The 70s” until 1975 - an hour long, show running from 6 to 7 pm on Monday evenings.

The next year, it was expanded to two hours and moved to 10 pm to midnight - still on Mondays. In January 1975, the show was axed due to BBC cutbacks.

Bob returned to the show in 2022 and again in 2023, covering for his decades-long colleague, Jonnie Walker, from whom he inherits the show full time follwing Jonnie’s retirement from broadcasting.

"I will do everything I can to maintain his legacy and curate the programme with the very best music from that incredible decade."
