50 years ago Syd, some 2 years after his departure from Pink Floyd the band he’d created, recorded 3 of his songs especially for Bob’s Radio 1 show, Sounds Of The 70s.

The songs were ''Baby Lemonade'', ''Dominoes'' and ''Love Song'' - all from his second solo album - and all featured on the show broadcast on 1st March 1971.

For the session Syd was joined by his old busking partner, close friend, and Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour on bass.

Whilst cracks were beginning to show in Syd’s performance, Bob introduced the songs thus: “At the moment he is living in Cambridge. Very, very much into songwriting. He has been writing many, many new songs lately. Although he didn’t do any new things for us on this particular session, there will be some on a forthcoming album, which, again, hasn’t yet, you know, begun as far as sort of starting work on it is concerned. But I think there are plans to start to work on the new LP within the next couple of months or so. And there will be lots and lots of new things on that one from Syd Barrett.”
