The twice covid-postponed “Backstage Pass” tour finally sprung into life last night, 18 months after its original start date, in front of an enthusiastic and appreciative audience at The Lowry Theatre in Salford.

From her awesome chart success in the 1980s to her Grammy-winning work today, she has established herself as a writer to trust implicitly, creating music of touching power, imagination, integrity, truth and beauty. She has become a vital voice of reason in these increasingly troubled and confusing times.

Bob was delighted this morning to discuss the forthcoming series of events on Radio 2’s celebration of Country Music in lieu of the postponed C2C: Country to Country festival.

The immersive media, music and entertainment district known as Outernet is set to open in central London in winter 2021. A 2,000 capacity venue, the return of the 12 Bar Club and a further intimate live space will open at the Denmark Street site.

19 August 2020: 60 years after it was first recorded, Ben E King’s iconic ‘Stand By Me’ is being re-recorded for a very special release.

Here’s a super video interview Bob conducted with Lyric Magazine’s James Daykin - who asked Bob about the soon-to-be-released star-studded #StandByMe charity single.

Radio 1 Breakfast presenter Greg James grew up with Bob’s famous whispering voice coming out of the radios at home, as his father Alan has been a fan from Bob’s first broadcast on Radio 1 on August 19th 1970 and his television career on The Old Grey Whistle Test, right through to Bob’s current work on Radio 2. They are firm friends through a love of cricket and music and have often attended gigs together with their families.

Greg talks in depth to Bob about his life, influences and passions and constant search for the next big thing.

“How can you not form a tight bond with the man who introduced you to the classiest singer songwriters, (from Neil Young to the young Elton and Jackson Browne) a man who then sells you country, with a passion so powerful you’d reckon one of the four mothers of his eight children would be called Tammy or Shania, and at least one of the kids would have a hyphen in their first name?”

“Whispering” Bob Harris has partnered with Absolute Label Services for a new record label as part of his Under The Apple Tree brand.

The deal coincides with the celebrations for Bob Harris’ 50 years on the BBC, including a repeat of the special tribute to The Old Grey Whistle Test. Harris currently has a country music show on Radio 2.

Bob was delighted to be cast in Tom Harper’s brilliant film “Wild Rose” alongside Julie Walters and the film’s magnificent star Jessie Buckley.

Hosted by Bob Harris, this live studio show features music, special guests and rare archive to mark 30 years since the legendary series was last broadcast. Featuring performances from Peter Frampton, Richard Thompson, and Albert Lee among others.

On the occasion of Bob’s 70th birthday Bob was utterly delighted to receive this surprise greeting from the former manager of Bob’s beloved Manchester United.

Thomas did a session for Bob on 18th February 2016 just as his song, “Die A Happy Man” was Number 1 in the US.
